# Cable

A cable is the most reliable connection, and your iPhone charges while it's plugged in.

1. Plug your iPhone into your computer with a USB cable that carries data, not a charge-only cable.
2. Unlock your iPhone.
3. The first time, follow [Setup iPhone for GhostMe](https://www.getghostme.com/docs/installation/setup-iphone).

When the device pill at the top left of the map shows a green dot, you're connected. GhostMe shows **iPhone connected via cable**.

> Not connecting? Try another cable or port and unlock your iPhone. On Windows, the **Apple Devices** app must be installed.

Unplugging keeps your location if **Continue on Wi-Fi** is on and both devices are on the same Wi-Fi. See [Wi-Fi](https://www.getghostme.com/docs/connection/wifi).
